As we discussed in class, over the years technology has changed so much. Technology has changed the way we buy products, read books or news, and interact with others. I personally believe that in the field of music production that technology has created endless possibilities. At one point in time there were only raw instruments that had to be recorded to make a song; whatever was recorded live is what ended up on the track.
Nowadays due to technology no real instruments are needed to make a song. Anybody with a laptop and the correct software such as garage band or logic pro can create instrumentals and songs. This has changed the music game because now that all those instruments are put into a software for you to create with making music has become more accessible.
There are more advancements in technology that will further shape and shift the music industry. One of those inventions are graphine which is being called the new "super material". The video explains in great depth what it is exactly. Scientist predict that with this graphine there will be transparent phones, roll-up computers and more. With this new material traveling with dj or drummer equipment can be made a lot easier because everything you need will be on this thin material.
Surprisingly, the advancement of technology in virtual reality has had an impact on the music production realm as well. virtual reality has allowed people to have concerts featuring with dead artist such as Tupac or michael jackson center stage using holograms. virtual reality also allows are artist to practice performing infront of a packed out crowd made of hologram to make the experience more real.
The way technology has changed the way music is played, listened to, and obtained over the past 40 years is staggering.
ReplyDeleteThe first video was very interesting. I hadn't heard bout graphite before. To think that a pencil could change the way our entire world interacts with electricity....
ReplyDeleteMusic has always been a fixture in society. Through the technological advancements, music and life itself can be taken to another level. If graphine production is made possible on a large scale, the cost of basic essentials will dramatically decrease and in turn increase the general standard of living.
ReplyDeleteThe Tupac video is crazy. The graphite production is also very interesting. I'm curious to see how that develops in the future.
ReplyDeleteMusic has definitely changed over the years. It's interesting how everything is digital nowadays as opposed to analog, so I can't wait to see how graphine affects instruments i.e. midi controllers, and audio interfaces etc. And, when the companies that do the holograms get more stable funding and become widely accepted amongst everybody it's gonna be mind-blowing.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. The Tupac hologram video is pretty cool. It shows how amazing technology is/can be. The graphite production was pretty interesting as well. I wonder how that will turn out
ReplyDeleteThe technological advances in music are quite astounding. As A musician, I think about what will happen to professional musicians? Will Broadway shows stop using live instrumentalists and begin using recoding’s instead? Will the Actors in these show also be substituted with holograms?
ReplyDeleteImagining the led in the pencils that we use will change the way that technology works is amazing! Who would have ever thought that a pencil would effect my future with technology?
ReplyDeleteSince I want to become a creative director/graphic designer, I will be always up to date with all of the latest laptops and gadgets for accessibility and ease and I could see this being very beneficial for my future.
